Product Description

  • Our base repair iron is a good choice for home tuners who have previously used drip candles to fill base gouges.
  • It works with p-tex repair ribbon, string or copolymer (see these items below) so you can melt-in repairs that aremore durable and cosmetically cleaner than drip candle repairs.
  • The tool features a wooden handle and a ceramic heating element that heats-up quickly.
  • Unlike soldering irons or woodburning tools that heat to 1000F, it hovers around a safer 550F (288C) operating temperature.
  • The tip can become slightly hotter if left unattended, up to 600F (315C) best to unplug if you think it will sit for 5 minutes or more.
  • It comes with a narrow 3/16" flat nickel-plated copper tip, which melts andsmoothes repair material to make pinpoint repairs without unnecessarily oxidizing surrounding base material.
  • An optional 1/2 inch-widecurved tip for this iron is also available...it works better for melting repair ribbon into especially wide gouges or core shots (simply slide it on after slipping off the standard narrow tip).
  • The iron is available in either 115 volts(20 watts) for use in the U.S., Canada, etc. or 230 volts for Europe and beyond.

  • OPTIONAL WIDE TIP
  • Great for working with wider gouges and scrapes or base repair ribbon
  • REPLACEMENT ORIGINAL TIP
  • In case you lose the other one!

  1. Solid P-tex Application

This iron is perfect for a variety of base damages. Using this Iron with regular p-tex get you a base repair that simply will not come out if you do it right. If you have a deep gash even core shot using the strips does the same. I also had a chunk taken out along edge that kept popping out with regular p-tex I even took it in to get it repaired repaired professionally and still popped out first run. I then got this iron and used the metex and after a couple try's getting used to using the iron I got a perfect repair that didn't pop out for the rest of the season. It does take some practice to get use to and I would highly suggest you get the wide tip so you can do larger areas at a time. But this is much better than drip candles for all types of p-tex repairs.
