Product Description

  • This compact Skimender repair pistol is ready made for the home mechanic.
  • It is extremely simple to operate, capable of producing quality base repairs with good durability and it's pretty darn affordable to boot!
  • The RP100 uses the 11mm P-Tex sticks which are more durable than drip repair candles, and produce longer lasting repairs (the material resists snow abrasion, so repairs don't cup-out over time)
  • The RP100 includes a stand for your bench, (2) four-inch clear repair sticks and a nice long seven-foot cord!
  • This RP100 is designed operate on any voltage between 100-240v.
  • Folks in countries other than the U.S. and Canada will need a plug adaptor (available at travel or electronics stores), or, if you're electronically savy, you can replace the plug entirely.
  • If you plan to repair a repair shop's quantity of skis in a season this gun is not for you, do yourself a favor and get the RP360. The RP100 is ideal for a home mechanic who is maintaining a friends and family skis, it is not intended for shop use.
User Tips for RP100
  • It is crucial to allow the RP100 to heat-up to operating temperature, about 15-20 minutes.
  • If you try to use it too soon the material will not flow smoothly and you'll have a gummy mess, the P-Tex material should come out of the gun about the consistency of honey.
  • Make sure you put a repair stick in the pistol while it heats!
  • When the pistol is hot simply hold the tip over the gouge and lightly press the trigger, the P-Tex will begin to flow, press the molten P-Tex lightly into the gouge with the tip (always keep P-Tex between the tip and the base to avoid damaging the base) and proceed along the gouge until it is filled.
  • You need just enough P-Tex to fill the gouge, avoid forming a mountain of unnecessary P-Tex which will take forever to remove and increase the risk of pulling the repair and having to start over.
  • Don't move too quickly, you want the tip to heat the base with a float of about 1mm of P-Tex in between so a good bond can form, nice and easy.
  • Allow the repair to cool completely, then use a surform followed by a steel scraper to reduce and smooth the repair.
  • Always work from the center of the repair toward the ends to avoid accidently pulling out the repair.
  • Be sure to work in a well ventilated space and/or use a respirator while P-Texing.

  1. wasted my money

Posted by Katharine Wood on 15th Mar 2013

lighting a stick of p-tex by hand was easier and less time consuming and actually did a better job. I used it a few times and found it time consuming and inefficient.

  2. Good bye fire-sticks!

Posted by Walt, NY on 7th Mar 2013

I have not used the RP360, but the 100 is light-years ahead of what I was using. I agree that the repair area should be heated for maximum adhesion. 4 Stars because I have no basis of comparison, excellent tool, glad I bought it!

  3. How did I live without it?

Posted by Richard Handler on 2nd Feb 2013

For more than 50 years I have been nibbling P-tex with broad tip soldering irons and dedicated versions of same. The RP100 has turned the most time consuming part of repair into the quickest part. If it saves me 30 - 60 minutes, weekly, during each ski season, for the rest of my retired years, it will have paid for itself many times over. Use it in combination with the Ski Visions Base Flattener for a fast and perfect repair.

  4. Good Product, easy to use

Posted by Howard on 2nd Feb 2013

This is better than using a welding iron tool which I had been using. Easy to apply and makes a nice repair

  5. Works a beauty

Have not given it a 5 Star, as I don't know the capabilities of its bigger brother. The reasons I like this tool are three: It does save time, just warm it up press and done. The P-tex bonds better and stronger, I still use the p-Tex strips for deeper cuts. And last but not least you get no stain from oxidization as when using the candle ones, which was a nightmare. Some may think that should stick to the cheaper old candle method, trust me, once you use it you will change your mind.

  6. Good tool

The p-tex tends to stick better to a rough surface. So be sure to sand the area filling well either by hand or use a dremmel for tighter areas.

  7. Base Repair Pistol

Posted by Chris on 18th Jan 2012

I recently purchased one of these tools. They are much more expensive on other sites and I felt that for the money, it would be a good purchase. Overall, I'm satisfied with the performance of the gun. I use it in my home shop. One word of caution is that the base needs to be pre-heated in order for the P-Tex to weld itself to the base. If this is not done, the P-Tex will easily pull out. Not a fualt of the product, but something to bear in mind. Other than that, great product for the price.
